Committee Chairman: Mr. Ailes

Troop 328 was Chartered by the Boy Scouts of America, Boulder Dam Area Council on May 29, 1991. Our first Scoutmaster was Daniel T. Lord which served the Troop until May 29, 1995. Doug Arnold served as our Scoutmaster until September 1999. Janni Johnson presently holds this position. Our First Committee Chairman Mr. Ailes left the Troop before the summer ended and Tina Lord was appointed to the position until 1993 when Tom Pysto took over. Tom is currently our Troop Committee Chairman. Our First Chartered Organization was Fellowship Baptist Church, until they changed the name to Fellowship Christian Church. Jonnie Walker RV's and Red Rock Moose Lodge #252 sponsored the troop for several years. CityGate Fellowship Church chartered or troop from 2001-2002. Currently our troop is Chartered by The Parents of Troop 328 and sponsored  by Nighthawk Custom Designs, Inc  Our troop, one of the best in Las Vegas, is constantly striving for excellence. No other troop can say they receive the Quality Unit Award every year and the National Camping Award for camping over 20 nights a year. 7 members have over 100 nights camping, 4 members have over 250 nights and 2 members has over 500 nights.

Troop 328 has celebrated the achievement of 18 eagle Scouts from 1991-2006. See Troop 328's Eagle's Nest for more information.

The Troop has won many troop and patrol awards over the years In 1996 Troop 328 competed in Bighorn's District Klondike Derby at McWilliams Campground at Mt Charleston. Well once again we didn't get much snow so many troops decided not compete in the dog sled race. While other troops modified their sleds with wheels, (approved by the District Committee) so they could work better we entered 2 entries with no wheels. The Thunderbird Patrol was older and was members of high school track team and football teams. Well our troop won first place while our younger team the Sidewinders took last. These guys worked hard to finish the race but their sled broke due to the many rocks on the trail and very little snow. They persevered and picked up their sled and ran all their pieces over the finish line. The committee was so impressed with these guys that they awarded them a special award. The troop went again in 1997 where they won first place again.

In 1996 the Troop went to Bighorn's District Camporee and won first place in the anchor awards and challenge stations, while finishing second in campsite inspections. When the weekend was over we won the overall chairman's award. We continued winning the very next year.

In 2002 we lost a dear friend that was our Chartering Representative for several years Ray Diaz. In 1993 Ray helped the troop earn money from Red Rock Moose Lodge to get new equipment for the troop. Ray a long time friend and fellow Teamster from Local 631 will be missed. Later in the year we lost another dear friend Grandma Kay. She past away in her sleep November 12, 2002. Kay was our Troop Treasurer for many years. She kept great records for our troop and kept us all in line. Kay raised to grandsons and kept them in the troop. Kay we will miss you.

When our troop went to Camp Mataguay 2003 they decided to work hard and make their summer camp a great experience. During the week they worked hard keeping their campsite clean, while working on merit badges and activities. This was the only camp we have seen that did their inspections at different times during the day. This made it extra hard for the guys because they were used to having it done early in the morning. This didn't stop the guys. They even dressed up their campsite with an archway on both trails to their campsite and displayed the USA, Nevada, Patrol and Troop flag. When the week was over our scouts had achieved more merit badges per person, won the top troop for inspections during the week and had worked real hard and had fun as a great patrol. The camp was real impressed with the troop so they awarded the troop their top honor for the week.

Our troop has had many changes in 2003. Several of our scouts decided it wasn't what they wanted and moved on. We want to wish them good luck and hope to see them continue scouting. We are in a rebuilding year and working hard to recruit new scouts.

The troop decided to participate in Boulder Dams Area Council's 2004 Muddy River Mountain Man Rendezvous for the first time. Boy! did they have a great time. Mr. Lord started a Rendezvous tradition in the troop for the Senior Patrol Leader to wear a fox fur hat. This was a great success and hope we can continue it.

We also participated in Scout Expo where they worked hard and set-up a booth for the American Frontier Area. Their theme was how the pioneers used music to entertain their families and what it might look like. Well the Expo staff was so impressed with their display that they received First Place for the Troop competition. Way to go guys!

In 2004 The troop went to Camp Potosi. The troop was short adult leaders so we had another troop come with us and participate. Troop 102 shared our site with one of their leaders. We had a great week and earned the Camp Commissioner's Best troop for the week. We once again had the best campsite inspections all week. Way to go guys!

2005 started out with a bang with our 15th annual Death Valley trip. Scouts campout out at Stove Pipe Well campground went to Furnace Creek and the sand dunes.  The 50 mile cycling trek was cancelled due to the road closers from the past floods. The main road was completely destroyed due to this flooding.

In February the troop went to the 2005 Muddy River Mountain Man Rendezvous. A lot of troops didn't show up because of the rain. I can tell you this troop won't do that. The location was changed and we went to Hidden Valley Area instead. We woke up in the morning to see the rain had stopped so we  started the activities.

On Memorial Day Weekend the troop went to Baker Dam Reservoir, Utah to go camping and fishing. Most all the boys caught fish and had a great time.

The Troop went to Camp Geronimo where they won the Big "G" Gold Award for the troop. The troop had to wear a complete uniform which they did. They had camp inspections of 99, 99, 100, 100 and 100 points did a 2 hour service project, and completed a merit badge or rank advancement while at camp.

In 1995 Troop 328 hit the information highway by placing a website on the Internet. Our troop was the first to be listed in Las Vegas. We were only the 3rd troop throughout the state of Nevada. Boulder City and Reno where there first.

In 2002 we received our first Golden Website Award Presented by the International Association of Web Masters and Designers and

We continued that tradition this year by receiving the award for 2003 and 2004.
